I’m Madeline Box, the owner, designer and flower wrangler for Peppered Sage. Born and raised in South County, Rhode Island, I have a deep love and respect for Little Rhody and the flora and fauna that comes with it.

I have over a decade of experience in fine gardening including many other branches (pun intended) of horticulture. My love of plants has taken me all over the world, but my professional work has grown steadily in Newport County, tending to private residences and commercial spaces.

I feel grateful everyday that I get to work with nature, as she is one of my greatest teachers. My goal with Peppered Sage is to showcase her unique glory, while bringing clients more joy and peace in their lives.

In addition to design work, I’ve had the opportunity to start “micro flower farms” at both Hawk and Handsaw Farm in Portsmouth, RI and Little River Farm in Exeter, RI. Both of these established farms have a deep respect for soil biodiversity and use sustainable and regenerative practices. The result is an abundance of absolutely delicious vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers!
